Teaching Garden

J.P.’s Peace, Love, and Happiness Foundation Teaching Garden is located adjacent to SFC in the St. David’s Foundation Community Garden. The Teaching Garden demonstrates sustainable food gardening techniques that are well suited to Central Texas' semi-arid climate. Hosted on City of Austin parkland, this garden is always open for self-guided visits.

The garden includes a Children's Sensory Garden as well as a Teaching Apiary where children and adults can view honeybees and learn about the importance of bees in pollinating food crops.

Produce harvested from the Teaching Garden is donated to local food pantries and shelters.

Getting there:

The easiest way to get to the Teaching Garden is to park at Downs-Mabson Field (at 2816 E 12th St, Austin, TX 78702) and to walk north across Boggy Creek on the Upper Boggy Creek Hike and Bike Trail bridge. The Teaching Garden is immediately across the bridge.

Another way to reach the Teaching Garden is by parking at SFC’s building, walking to the MLK Jr. MetroRail Station, and crossing the tracks. Continue walking south on the hike & bike trail and you will arrive at the garden.
