Other Ways to Support SFC

In partnership with EarthShare Texas, you can participate in regular, monthly payroll deductions, and purchase carbon footprint offsets to support SFC. Learn more about each program below.

Offset your Carbon Footprint

Want to support SFC and offset your carbon footprint at the same time? EarthShare Texas and Reliant Energy have launched The Reliant EcoShare, a program that allows Reliant customers to support EarthShare Texas and its participating organizations to help reduce the customers’ carbon footprints through the purchase of carbon offsets. The Reliant EcoShare program gives customers the option of two pricing levels:

$3.95 Monthly: For a flat monthly cost of $3.95, a $1 donation is made each month to EarthShare Texas, and 500 pounds of carbon offsets are purchased.

$5.95 Monthly: For a flat monthly cost of $5.95, a $2 donation is made each month to EarthShare Texas, and 1,000 pounds of carbon offsets are purchased.

Sustainable Food Center receives a portion of each donation as a participating member of EarthShare Texas.

Carbon offsets for the Reliant EcoShare program meet approved standards to ensure that they represent real, verifiable reductions in greenhouse gases.

Your Donations Drive
Local Food Access

Your donations to Sustainable Food Center (SFC) make a transformative impact across our programs and initiatives.

Double Up Food Bucks Texas:
Your donations grow Double Up Food Bucks Texas by increasing funds to double the purchasing power of families receiving SNAP, and in some instances WIC benefits. Your donations help more families access fresh, local produce, improving their nutrition and well-being.

The Happy Kitchen / La Cocina Alegre®:
Your support ensures our kitchens continue to employ experienced community members who teach culturally relevant, nutritious cooking skills and recipes. By donating, you help communities gain the knowledge to cook healthy, affordable meals, fostering lifelong nutritious eating habits.

SFC Farmers’ Markets:
Contributions uplift our farmers’ markets by helping to fund entertainers, permits, and essential marketing for local vendors. Your contributions enable our markets to attract more customers, providing a vital sales outlet for local farmers and ensuring communities have access to fresh, local food.

Farmer Support:
SFC Farmer Support programs help small-scale farmers thrive. Your donations help provide resources, training, and market opportunities, strengthening our food system and ensuring a diverse supply of fresh produce.

Farm to School:
Your support for Farm to School initiatives brings fresh, local produce to school cafeterias and educates students about nutritious eating. Donations also connect farmers with schools, fostering healthy habits in children and local agriculture.

Policy & Advocacy:
Funding our policy and advocacy team allows us to conduct critical research, outreach, and mobilization efforts. Your donations enable us to expand our influence, championing sustainable food policies and engaging communities in meaningful action.
