Thank you so much to everyone who attended our 9th Annual Farm to Plate event on May 11, 2016! The event was a huge success, and thanks to everyone who attended, we raised over $200,000 to support access to local food for everyone in Austin!
From clear skies to a beautiful outdoor setting at the historic Barr Mansion, we couldn't have asked for a better night to celebrate our local food community. New Austin restaurant Juniper hosted a lively VIP experience complete with sweet and savory bites and tasty sips. Guests had the chance to browse over 40 silent auction packages and try their luck at winning their favorite prize.
We would like to thank all of our auction donors and bidders, and are excited to announce that we raised almost $14,000 from our silent auction! A special thank you goes out to Tina Straus and Tasha Callahan for designing the auction tables as well as Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects and Ranserve Custom Homes and Remodeling for designing, building and displaying the beautiful chicken coop on-site.
After the VIP hour wrapped up, guests enjoyed a special program hosted by SFC's Executive Director, Ronda Rutledge. Our Sustainable Food Changemaker Awards were presented to Kate Fitzgerald, founder of Sustainable Food Center, and to JP's Peace, Love & Happiness Foundation.
The main event of Farm to Plate began after our program wrapped up. Guests were treated to sweet and savory bites by over 30 of Austin's most acclaimed chefs. We'd like to thank those amazing culinary artists who crafted the delicious bites and sips we enjoyed. Thank you again to all our committee members, volunteers, sponsors, guests, beverage artisans, farmers, and staff who made our 9th Annual Farm to Plate such a resounding success! It was a truly inspiring evening in celebration of sustainable, local food.
