For more than 45 years, Sustainable Food Center has worked to improve the health of our community and our environment through local food.

The pandemic and recent winter storm revealed just how critical a thriving local food system is to the wellbeing of our community. When grocery store shelves sat bare, our local farmers were there providing the healthy food we needed to feed our families. Through arctic temperatures and a snowstorm rarely seen in Texas, our farmers fought to preserve their crops, so they could continue to bring their food to you.

Now, it’s our turn to fight for a local food system that supports us all — through the good times and bad.

The unique work of SFC builds bridges between our health, our environment, food access, and food production. With your help, we can create a thriving and resilient food system in Central Texas.

We see a future where most of the food we eat in Central Texas will be grown by the local farmers and ranchers who protect our environment through their growing practices. These farmers would be rewarded with healthy businesses and families, and everyone, regardless of means, would be nourished by this fresh, local food.
