Farm to Cafeteria

Since 2005, SFC has worked with to connect farmers and other food producers Austin-area hospitals, universities, and other institutions. Our institutional partners are committed to supporting local farms and providing their customers with the freshest seasonal produce available — all locally grown using sustainable methods. Sustainable Food Center (SFC) has served as the vital link between farmers and buyers by coordinating weekly orders and managing delivery, billing, and payment disbursements to farmers. As new businesses formed around local food distribution and as established distributors improved their local food offerings, SFC has shifted focus to providing technical assistance and consultation with farmers and institutions seeking a “farm to cafeteria” connection.
