Development and Communications Manager
Naomi Silverman grew up in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, and relocated to Austin in 2016 to attend culinary school and explore a new city. She holds an undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz in Community Studies with emphases in Agriculture/Food Justice & Economic Justice, and a plant-based culinary degree from the Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts.
Naomi was introduced to the food justice world during a college internship at Life Lab Science Program, where she taught children about food and farming in an outdoor garden classroom. Following this experience, she spent time working at an organic farm & job training program for homeless individuals, cooking for 200 children and teaching kids cooking classes at an after-school program, and fundraising at Habitat for Humanity. She finally decided to pursue her dream of attending culinary school, and spent some time doing personal chef, diet consultation, and food service work.
Naomi ultimately hopes to utilize her background to make social change through food access and equity. She joined the SFC in November 2017, and is excited to focus her time on marketing and development work with the Development & Communications team. Outside of work, Naomi loves to dance, cook, travel, go camping, and spend time with her adorable cat.
