Join Me in the Movement of Giving - GivingTuesday

Today is #GivingTuesday - the global movement of giving created in response to BlackFriday and CyberMonday.

At SFC, we are taking this opportunity to make our own commitments to give back and support local, affordable food in Central Texas.

I give back because I believe that we can protect our planet for generations to come by supporting local, sustainable agriculture. I believe in the power of local food grown without chemicals that harm our land, that regenerates our soil, and travels fewer miles to get directly to you.

But did you know that 9.3 acres of farmland are lost each day? And over the last 11 years, Travis County has lost 25% of its farmland.

Our local farmers need our help. To be able to fight development and preserve our treasured farmland, they need to earn a living wage by selling the incredible food they grow directly to consumers like you and me.

So on this #GivingTuesday, I commit to buying local, sustainably grown produce for my family every week. I want to do my part to support our local farmers and programs that make local food accessible for all. Show your support for local food and join me by visiting your local farmers’ market this week and shopping local.

I hope you’ll also consider donating to SFC today. Your donation supports our programs that give everyone the opportunity to purchase healthy, local produce for themselves and their families.

Building a healthy, sustainable future for our children is critical work, and we can’t do it without your help.
