Did you know heart disease is responsible for approximately 1 in 4 deaths in the United States each year? A poor diet caused by lack of access to healthy food is a major contributor to this chronic disease and impacts our low-income communities the most.
That’s why we're asking for your help today. Together we can increase access to healthy food and stop the spread of diet-related disease.
Donate now and help hundreds of families learn to cook healthy food through our free cooking and nutrition classes.
Claudia knows first-hand how learning to cook healthy meals can transform a life. On Thursdays at 8am, Claudia arrives at Padron Elementary School to set up for another free 6-week cooking class series. She sets up the cooking station and stocks grocery bags for each person to take home. Later, the students listen with rapt attention as she teaches them the health benefits of that week's recipe.
Claudia has been a peer facilitator for The Happy Kitchen since 2001 and taught countless individuals how to prepare nutritious meals to keep their families healthy and strong.
“This program is amazing. All the time, the students tell me ‘Thank you, this program has changed my life!’ It is so important for the kids, for the parents to learn how to cook healthy food.” - Claudia
Diet-related disease can affect anyone in our community regardless of income or zip code. Improving access to healthy food is at the heart of what we do, but we need your help today to continue this critical work.
Thank you for believing in the transformational power of food.
