Farmers’ Market Programming Manager

SFC is seeking a Farmers’ Market Programming Manager to plan, execute, and evaluate programming at SFC farmers’ markets.

Job Description::

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.

The Farmers’ Market Programming Manager plans, executes, and evaluates programming at SFC farmers’ markets. This includes planning and executing events, marketing and advertising, promotional opportunities, evaluation activities, and the financial growth and development of the markets. This person is also responsible for recruiting new vendors to market to maintain a full vendor roster. This is an outward facing position that requires an ability to promote the market and its vendors to a myriad of stakeholders—from shoppers, to farmers, to potential sponsors, and requires working occasional Saturdays at the SFC Farmers’ Markets.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and oversee music, events, and activities at the markets, including partners and relationships management
  • Partner with development staff to engage corporate sponsors and donors
  • Develop and oversee social media, advertising, and marketing strategy for markets and market related events and sponsorships
  • Execute market development and growth plan for markets
  • Oversee Vendor Council
  • Execute market evaluation plan and use results to improve market success

You will also bring expertise and demonstrated capacity in:

  • Experience managing or running a farmers’ market, events, or similar program.

  • Proven success overseeing a business or program, including the ability to expand and grow a program.

  • Experience using electronic and social media for effective marketing and business communications.

  • Ability to initiate, prioritize, and coordinate projects and follow through to completion.

  • Experience with leading a team and influencing outcomes.

  • Experience overseeing budgets and programmatic expenses.

  • Strong skills in Canva, MS Office, Google Suite, and other web-based and project management tools.

  • Attentive to details and strong aptitude for organization and record keeping.

  • Strong communication skills including written and oral.

  • Ability to track, measure, and report on results of various functions to determine ROI.

  • A positive attitude and the flexibility to operate in an environment with deadlines and changing demands.

  • Committed to SFC’s mission with a strong equity and social justice lens.

  • Experience considering the impacts of the work on multiple communities, including communities of color.

Sustainable Food Center offers an excellent work environment, competitive salaries, full coverage health insurance, 403b matching after first year of employment, generous time off and a flexible schedule. The salary band for this position is $44,000 to $48,000. Starting salary will be influenced by applicant’s qualifications and budget considerations. The position is available starting January 5, 2021.

Note: Currently, all SFC staff are working from home due to the pandemic.
