This past Sunday, we celebrated the many amazing people who make our programming possible, from the volunteers who staff our information booths at markets to the ambassadors who bring local food to schools, the interns who assist with summer camps, the facilitators who teach our cooking and gardening classes, the coordinators who support Farm to Work, and the board members who provide us with leadership and direction.

Over the course of the afternoon, we enjoyed bites donated by Austin’s new Snooze restaurant, water ice donated by Jim Jim’s, aguas frescas donated by Taco Deli, and beer donated by the Live Oak Brewing Company. Program staff hosted child friendly activities, including everyone’s favorite, veggie monsters, while volunteers, interns, ambassadors and facilitators chose from a plethora of raffle prizes, from cookbooks and garden journals to local honey and specially-made bandanas.

The day was warm and breezy, and the Afro Caribbean Soul Collective gifted us with Cuban and West African beats, transforming the afternoon into a real party. We are grateful for the community members who chose to spend such a beautiful day in our company, and we look forward to hosting next year’s Annual Appreciation Event.
