Volunteers are what make Sustainable Food Center so successful! Every year, SFC relies on the energy and time of hundreds of volunteers to keep our programs going. Without their devotion, SFC would not be able to help more than 350,000 Central Texans access healthy, affordable, locally-grown food annually.
All new volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation, pay a $10 administration fee, and complete a criminal background check. See our upcoming orientation dates below.
Volunteer Opportunities vary from week to week and month to month. SFC offers episodic opportunities on any given day of the week as well as committed on-going opportunities.
SFC offers several group project opportunities throughout the year, most take place in one of SFC's gardens on site. Groups do not need to go through a formal orientation, but will be trained on-site. SFC accepts groups of 15-30 volunteers. Please note project dates fill up quickly and must be scheduled well in advance of desired dates.
Are you a Citizen Gardener student looking for volunteer opportunities to fulfill your 10 hours of community service? If the answer is yes, then you do not need to attend an SFC volunteer orientation. Below is a list of hands-on, volunteering opportunities at nearby gardens and farms that you can attend to complete your volunteer requirements.
If you are looking to complete hours for school, community service, or to simply “build” your resume, we have one opportunity for you.
