The trainings are led by SFC staff and partners, and are designed for community-based organizations, local government entities, and other groups interested in sustainable and local food systems programming. Participants will leave with program planning, implementation, and evaluation tools and resources needed to initiate gardening, farm marketing, and healthy cooking programs within their own communities. We are also incorporating special sessions on community engagement and organizing, and on funding and grant writing. Participants will also have access to SFC staff for ongoing technical assistance and consultation.

It is expected that participating groups will be able to launch programming within one year of the training. If you are interested in attending the 2015 Food Systems Program Training to be held in June 2015 please review the Program Resource requirements, and also submit a Capacity Assessment Questionnaire no later than April 24, 2015. This questionnaire will assist organizations in determining their readiness to launch programming within one year, and will also help SFC staff cater to the specific training needs of participants.

SFC program staff will review the questionnaire and respond regarding eligibility for the training no later than May 5, 2015, although earlier applicants will have first choice for limited placement.

Program Replication Capacity Assessment

It is expected that participating groups have appropriate organizational capacity and community connections prior to attending the training, and that they will be able to dedicate resources to launch programming within one year of the training.

Prior to registering for the training, each organization must complete a capacity assessment questionnaire. This information will be helpful for your organization to assess its ability to add or expand a program element. The questionnaire will also be reviewed by SFC staff to ensure that participants have adequate capacity to implement programming within one year, and can be helpful in planning the trainings around specific needs and interests.

Questionnaires will be reviewed and confirmed in the order they are received, generally within 2 weeks, so we strongly suggest submitting your responses as soon as possible. Responses to the questionnaire will not be accepted after April 24, 2015 with notification of review and confirmation no later than May 4, 2015.
